On The Color Purple, Taraji P. Henson had to battle for her own driver’s license. This is insurance liability.
Deferred Tax Liability: Own Driver’s License 2024 Now
Taraji P. Henson campaigned to provide drivers for the cast of “The Color Purple.”
A “insurance liability” and a “dangerous” situation for them, the 53-year-old actress, who plays Shug Avery in the musical adaptation of Alice Walker’s classic novel, has blasted producers for allowing her and her co-stars to drive themselves to the set for filming.
“They gave us rental cars, and I was like, ‘I can’t drive myself to set in Atlanta,'” she said to The New York Times. This is risky and falls under insurance liability. They are robbing people now.
“How do I appear when I drive a rental car to work by myself? I then said, “Can I get security or a driver to take me?” I’m not requesting the moon. “Well, if we do it for you, we got to do it for everybody,” they say. Done for everyone, then!
“I shouldn’t have to fight for things like that. I was fighting for trailers on the “Empire” set that weren’t bug-ridden.
“Because you fight so hard to establish a name for yourself and be respected in this town to no avail,” Taraji said, expressing her frustration at such circumstances.
She also asserted that studios were hesitant to market “Black films” internationally.
“They just don’t want to take us overseas with Black films, and I don’t understand that,” the woman remarked.

“Black is a universal language, so why shouldn’t the movies be as well? Of all places, I have a following in China. Are you not going to take advantage of that? Isn’t the goal of everyone here to make money?
“Although I don’t always play the racial card, what other excuse is there? Tell me. Give me something else, please; I’d prefer it not to be about race.
Her most recent remarks follow the ‘Hidden Figures’ actress’s recent emotional breakdown over the years-long pay gap she has encountered.
“I’m just tired of working so hard, being gracious at what I do, and getting paid a fraction of the cost,” she said in an interview with SiriusXM.
“I’m sick of listening to my sisters repeat the same points. You grow weary. I hear comments like “You work so hard.” I must. There is no math involved.
“You then form a team and begin to work a lot. Large bills accompany our work. It’s not just the two of us. We have a whole team at our back. They must be compensated.
