Health Insurance: Will Increase In 2025
According to state insurance regulators, monthly premiums for around 260,000 Washingtonians shopping on the individual health insurance market would rise by an average of 10.7% in 2019.
The 2025 Washington Health Benefit Exchange marketplace has once again seen price increases for consumers after the Office of the Insurance Commissioner in the state authorized 11 insurers to offer their products there.
Many locals who purchase their own health insurance through the exchange are eligible for subsidized coverage; yet, proponents of more accessible healthcare contend that the revelation serves as a warning that premiums and out-of-pocket expenses are growing more challenging for individuals to handle.

The certification arrives one day ahead of the exchange’s certification on Thursday, which marks the start of open enrollment and the sale of new health insurance policies.
State Insurance Commissioner Mike Kreidler stated in a written statement, “I know this rate increase will hit hard for many people, especially at a time when other expenses are up.”
Increases in monthly health care costs will be experienced by anyone shopping on the individual market (and not receiving health insurance from their employer or being a Medicaid member),
Even though changes in premiums will depend on a number of factors, such as an individual’s plan, age, and the number of people covered.
The greatest rate rise, 23.7%, will be experienced by UnitedHealthcare of Oregon, which covers roughly 6,200 people in Washington.
This is followed by the lowest hike, 5.7%, will affect about 41,000 Molina Healthcare of Washington beneficiaries.
Every year, when insurers submit proposals for rate changes to the state insurance office, agency representatives examine each “basis for any increase or decrease,” according to OIC.
This results in the determination of new prices. State law compels the agency to approve the rate proposal if it is determined to be “justified.”
According to the agency, this year’s group of 11 insurers first asked for rate increases of roughly 11.3%, but OIC ultimately settled on 10.7%.

According to a statement released on Thursday by Regence BlueShield spokesman Ashley Bach, “health insurance rates reflect what we expect care to cost.”
As a nonprofit health insurance provider, we are concerned about the excessive costs associated with medical treatment and work to control them whenever we can.
One way we do this is by negotiating lower prices for our members with hospitals and pharmaceutical companies.
According to Bach, rising costs for prescription medications and medical treatment are the primary causes of rate adjustments.
Some, such as advocates for patients and consumers, pressed for more comprehensive justifications and solutions for the increases in medical expenses.
The medical establishment is poised to make money off of Washington patients once more.
Following OIC’s pronouncement, Emily Brice, co-executive director of Northwest Health Law Advocates, stated in a statement.
“The premiums went up by 9% last year, 8% the year before, and now by an additional 11%.
People are sick of seeing costs rise endlessly, and we need to find answers to this issue.
