Owners of Hyundai : Now Trouble Insurance 2024
Some owners of Hyundai and Kia have trouble obtaining insurance.
Cars that are stolen on social media are no longer covered by insurers.
Ohio’s FAIRFIELD For a number of years, owners of specific Kais and Hyundai have been concerned about their vehicles being stolen.
Since many insurers are no longer providing coverage for certain models, they now also need to worry about obtaining insurance.
Judy Roberts, a motorist from Fairfield, Ohio, is one example.
She declared her 2017 Kia Optima to be flawless.
She exclaimed, “I adore the car.”
However, it’s not ideal for insurance providers
Her rates increased steadily over time.
After a premium increase, she tried to locate a new insurance and found that the majority of them didn’t want her business at all.
Certain insurance providers refuse to offer coverage.
A few months ago, I called Progressive, and they said no,” the woman remarked.
“I called Allstate again, and they gave me the same response. When I later visited State Farm, they informed me of the same thing.
She claimed to have spoken with multiple insurance salespeople who said that the cause was the widely accepted “Tikor challenge,” which led to the theft of thousands of Hyundai and Kia vehicles between 2011 and 2019.
Roberts currently only has minimal auto insurance, but it is pricey, and she claims that her current insurer makes it difficult for her to use her debit card to pay her monthly premium.
She wonders if they’re attempting to persuade her to go.
“This last payment I had to overnight to them,” she stated. “And it cost me $30.”
We’ve contacted her insurance company to find out why it’s so hard for her to set up automatic payments for her bills each month.
In the meantime, other drivers are discovering how difficult it may be to obtain coverage, just as she did.
NPR was recently contacted by State Farm, Progressive, and Allstate to clarify that they are not covering certain older Kias and Hyundais that are vulnerable to the theft wave.
Ignition immobilizers in more recent models are unaffected.
Presently Registered Vehicles Are Grandfathered In
However, because of the increased risk of theft, their premiums have increased, and Roberts is unsure of how long she can stick with her insurer.
