Treasures Of Iranian Insurance Customer Hacking Data For Sale

For about $75,000, anonymous hackers are offering 160 million customer information records that they have pieced together from 23 Iranian insurance companies.
The hackers’ claim has been verified by the Iranian Leakage Tracking System (Leakfa), which claims that the data was acquired via an intrusion on the infrastructure of the Expert Information Technologists (Fanavaran) company.
Name, national number, date of birth, address, zip code, and mobile phone are just a few of the details that can be used to potentially fabricate an identity and are offered for sale on the dark web. A Telegram channel released the hack’s report for the first time in August.

According to its own description, Fanavaran Company has been “the largest information technology company in the insurance industry in Iran” since August. has restricted access to its website over the internet.
In an interview with the Digiato website, the company’s deputy chief executive officer, Mehdi Imanimehr, questioned the veracity of the hacking. However, he also made it clear that he lacks the legal standing to offer any commentary on the subject.
A few weeks after the news first surfaced, Iran’s Central Insurance Company (CIC), which oversees the country’s insurance sector, released a statement in which it denied the hacking.
But in September, the Minister of Economy fired Majid Behzadpour, the head of the CIC, and replaced him with Ali Ostad Hashemi.

Insurance activists have voiced strong opposition to the new head’s appointment, according to Etemad News.
Ostad Hashemi, an ally of the Economy Minister, does not have relevant work experience in the field, and due to his dual positions, the Supreme Audit Court of Iran has ruled that he is not allowed to carry out the duties of the job, as reported by Etemad in September.
Many changes have been implemented since the new government took office in 2021, as the government-owned insurance companies’ downward spiral has accelerated.
