Georgia insurance officials say they charged a man who they believed had made fraudulent claims for a “lost” bracelet after looking through his bank statements.
According to a news release from Georgia Insurance and Safety Fire Commissioner John F. King on December 14, warrants were issued on December 6 for the arrest of a 41-year-old Cumming resident on suspicion of insurance fraud.

The allegations date back three years to when authorities claimed he purchased a “high-end gold bracelet” for roughly $7,000. According to King, he reported to police in San Diego, California, in September 2020 that he had had his expensive jewellery taken in a robbery.
In October 2020, he made a fraudulent insurance claim in order to pay for the officials claimed he had a gold bracelet and another bracelet that he claimed he had paid $16,000 for in 2014.
Investigators stated that the man was hospitalised following a car accident in December 2020. The next day, he filed a second claim for both bracelets, claiming that they were misplaced in the collision, according to the commissioner’s office.

“Our investigators discovered that the suspect had previously returned the $7,062 bracelet and was fully refunded, along with bank statements and other information,” King said.
As of Friday, Dec. 15, investigators were still looking for the man. About 40 miles northeast of Atlanta’s city centre is Cumming.
