In November, the number of Canadians receiving Employment Insurance at the federal, provincial, and local levels increased.
460,000 Canadians were receiving regular Employment Insurance benefits in November, up 7,000 or 1.7% from October, according to Statistics Canada.
The total number of regular EI beneficiaries increased by 53,000 (+13.1%) from November 2022 to November 2023 on a year-over-year basis.
In Ontario, the number of people receiving regular Employment Insurance benefits increased by 4,000 in November, a 3% increase from October and the province’s fourth consecutive month of growth.
1,160 persons in the Belleville Census Metropolitan Area were receiving EI in November, an increase of 50 persons, or 4.5%, from the previous month.
The increase from November 2022 is 6.4%.
