The Insurance Council of Texas’s Advice on How to Make Holiday Security and Safety a Priority.
High Security Number Plate: 1st Security Or Safety Priority
The Insurance Council of Texas is giving Texans advice on how to safeguard their vehicles, homes, and self this holiday season as Christmas and New Year’s Eve draw near.
ITC reminds Texans that it’s important to be watchful and take precautions because of the surge in holiday celebrations, shopping, and package deliveries.
In the US, porch piracy is becoming a bigger problem. According to a recent Security.org study, Texas experiences almost two million package thefts annually.
High Security Number Plate:
In order to prevent porch piracy, ITC suggests the following measures:
- Deliveries should be scheduled as carefully as possible. If at all possible, have packages delivered when someone is home to accept them, or use a delivery service that lets you designate a specific time for delivery.
- Use Package Lockers: For extra security, think about using package lockers or delivery drop-off locations.
- Install security cameras: They serve as a deterrent and can be used to identify porch pirates. Visible security cameras also help. Put them in advantageous places to get sharp video.
- Secure Package Tracking: Keep an eye on the whereabouts and anticipated arrival time of your packages by utilising the package tracking services offered by delivery companies.
- Count on Trusted Neighbours: If you’re going to be away, ask a neighbour you can trust to pick up your packages or to keep them safe until you get back your coming back.
- Lock your doors to prevent thieves from stealing more than just your packages.
The National Insurance Crime Bureau (NICB) reports that in Texas in 2022, over 105,000 automobiles were reported stolen. ICT suggests taking the following safety measures to reduce the possibility of theft or damage:
- Park in Well-Lit Areas: When going shopping at night, especially, pick parking spots that are well-lit.
- Hide Valuables: Stow shopping bags and other valuables in the trunk or under a blanket to keep them out of sight.
- Lock Your Car: Even for brief stops, always shut your windows and lock your car doors.
- Consider Your Parking Spots: If at all possible, park close to security cameras and in areas with a lot of foot traffic.
- Employ Anti-Theft Devices: For an extra degree of security, think about installing steering wheel locks and making sure your car alarm is activated.
