Adipurush Director: 1 A New Executive Insurance Authority
IA appoints a new executive director.
The Hong Kong Insurance Authority (IA) has declared Clement Lau’s appointment as the new executive director for policy and legislation.
This appointment is for a three-year term that ends in January 2027 and is effective as of January 23. He will be responsible for a wide range of tasks in his new role, such as organizing the corporate planning exercise,
Examining and improving regulatory instruments and legislative frameworks, and interacting with industry stakeholders to meet their goals.
In addition, he will oversee research and public education projects, as well as develop plans and policies to position Hong Kong as a preeminent center for insurance.
The IA is holding a separate hiring process in addition to this appointment for two other important roles: the executive directors in charge
of both general and long-term business. According to reports, this process is going well, and an announcement about the result is anticipated soon.

The IA is continuously working to bolster its leadership group and expand its influence within the insurance sector, and these latest appointments are a part of that effort.
“With a strong background in financial supervision and public administration, Lau is a prime candidate to assume this senior role and help us carry out our mandated duties.
IA chairman Stephen Yiu stated, “I firmly believe that his arrival will add vitality and strength to the management team in the IA.”
