Ohio’s Dayton (WKEF) — The 16th annual Military Spouse of the Year award nominations, which honor the significant contribution that military spouses make to the country’s defense, are being announced by Armed Forces Insurance.
More than a million military spouses directly and significantly contribute to our national security by managing the home front while our service members defend our country.
“The AFI MSOY represents a wide-ranging, purpose-driven network of military spouse leaders; it goes beyond simple recognition.
We embrace diversity, equity, and inclusion within our ranks because we have personally witnessed how different viewpoints and experiences enhance and fortify our group efforts,” stated Lori Simmons, AFI’s chief growth and marketing officer.

The award honors military spouses in particular and incorporates them into a program that builds leadership abilities, facilitates professional networking, improves advocacy and life skills, and promotes community impact.
The following are important dates for the selection process:
- Acceptance of National Nominations: December 4–January 26
- Candidate Introduction: February 1st
- Period of Base Voting: February 5–9
- Base Winners Announced: February 13
- The 21st-place Branch Winners Released on: February 22
- Voting by Branch: February 27–28
- Winners of Each Branch Announced: March 4
- AFI MSOY Voting Overall: March 7–8
- Week of AFI MSOY: May 6–10
- AFI MSOY Announced Overall: May 11
