December 19, 2023, New York, /PRNewswire/ — According to a new ValuePenguin.com analysis, if Americans buy a private health insurance plan on the market in 2024, they will spend a record $584 per month, or $7,008 per year, on health insurance. Open enrollment is currently underway.

The cost of private health insurance will rise by 4% for American families in 2023 after increasing by 0.67% in 2022 and 4% in 2023 due to rising expenses for insurers and healthcare providers.

Residents in the 15 states where premiums are scheduled to drop or remain the same may find some respite from the likely rate increases for residents of the other 35 states.

In 2024, premiums for all private health plans will rise: The largest premium increases, ranging from 6% to 10%, will affect HMO and PPO plans as well as Platinum and Gold tier plans.
