CICA announces the final teams of the top three essay contests for 2024.

The three finalist teams for the student essay competition, supported by Hylant Global Captive Solutions (Hylant GCS), have been announced by the Captive Insurance Companies Association (CICA).
Captive Insurance Times will publish the essays written by the students.
Middle Tennessee State University’s Brian Dunn and Rose Gendy, Butler University’s Harrison White and Bailey Sims, and Temple University’s Gracie Law and Sofia Davis are the three finalists.
Teams of two were required to explain to the judges how and why a captive insurance company could be a financially viable alternative to traditional risk financing methods for emerging and expanding risk challenges.

The three teams that made it to the finals will collaborate with mentors from Hylant GCS to improve and essays, which will be evaluated once more in order to determine the top three rankings.
The CICA International Conference, which takes place in Arizona from March 10–12, will feature the winners’ announcement. During an instructional session, the teams that made the finals will also present their case studies.
“Each year, it’s amazing to see the sparks our essay contest ignites,” says CICA President Dan Towle. Students frequently tell us that getting involved made them realize how inventive and difficult the captive insurance sector is.
