Wellington OPP discovered a driver from Cambridge, age 24, driving without insurance last week. If found guilty, the driver could face a significant fine.
Around nine in the morning on December 21, while keeping an eye on traffic on Wellington Road 7, Mapleton, police say they stopped a blue SUV’s driver.
The Cambridge driver was charged with operating a motor vehicle without insurance in violation of the Compulsory Automobile Insurance Act (C.A.I.A.) following the investigation.

Under the act, a first offense carries a fine of $5,000 to $25,000.
On April 3, 2024, the defendant is expected to appear in a provincial offences court in Guelph.
